Macy Margaret

We welcomed Macy Margaret on February 4th at 11:07 pm. It seemed like a whirlwind of events led up to her arrival. I was supposed to go into the hospital on Thursday night the 2nd to begin everything but the hospital was full and no bed was available. I called the hospital Friday morning at 5:30 and was told to come in at 7:30. Jeff and I arrive and they begin my cervidill at 10:45. The doctor on call explained to me that once everything starting going they were to get me as far as possible with very little pushing due to my high heart rate. I was fine with that since I knew I would have an epidural. At 11:00 pm Friday night my cervidill was removed and the pitocin began at midnight. Within the hour I was already having contractions. I thought, this is going to be quick and a breeze since it's the second time around. Well, I was proven wrong. I did not change all night and they had to break my water Saturday morning. They told me that would really speed things up and this baby would be here in no time. By 10:00 am my contractions were bad enough that I went ahead and got my epidural. But I was still moving real slow. At 5:00 pm I was 9 cm but the baby was being stubborn and would not drop. Four hours later there I was still 9 cm and exactly the same. That is when I got the devastating news...I was to have a c-section in an hour!! What? This was not in my plans. They got me prepped and rolled me back there around 10:30. It all went really quick once they got me numb. Miss Macy was born at 11:07 weighing 6lbs 12oz and 20.5 inches long. The doctor told us that the reason she wouldn't drop was that the cord was too tight around her neck and she couldn't drop far enough. So in the end the c-section was a blessing and I am grateful the doctor to decided to do the c-section when she did.

I love this picture with both mine and Jeff's hand on Macy. Once they got her cleaned up they put her on my chest for a few minutes so I could get a peek at her.
Much bigger girl than her sister
First look at my baby girl
Proud Momma and Daddy
Jeff with the newest addition
Isn't this the cutest whale you have ever seen! I tried to get Lucy's picture standing with the whale but you can see what I ended up with!
Here is my sweet girl in the NICU. The doctors came in my room Sunday morning to let us know that Macy would be moving to the NICU. No, not again I thought. She was having a little breathing problem and some fluid in her lungs. They put her on antibiotics for an infection.

Within a few days she was much improved and we were told that she would have to stay for 7 days due to being on antibiotics which is administered through an IV.
Lucy loves to play with our touchpad(which she is the only reason we bought it) especially in the mornings laying in my bed(hey, i can't complain). She is too funny with her paci in her mouth, one in her hand, leg propped up and watching youtube!

Here Comes #2

Tomorrow is the big day in the Barnwell house. I am to call the hospital after 5pm to find out what time they want me to come in to begin my induction. I will have to do cervidill for 12 hours and then pitocin on the 3rd. So if things go as planned and I have a fast labor then Baby Barnwell will be here on February 3rd! Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

Jeff was on his way home from the "new house" and saw this bike as well as a little tykes basketball goal outside for free. So, we all head out to grab some free stuff. Lucy thinks her "bisissle" is wonderful. Even though she just sits on it and makes Jeff push her or she pushes it.

This is how we normally move the bike around
Eating a popsicle outside in January! Love it...I wish it never got cold around here. We have played outside a ton the past few weeks. This is Lucy's Valentine dress from last year that has become her Valentine shirt this year!

I have been wanting to get Lucy a wagon forever. But because Jeff and I are so cheap(hence the free bike and basketball goal) I have been hunting on craigslist but was always to late and it was already sold. I found this one last night and went and picked it up today. She had so much fun pulling Lambie and Minnie in the backyard.
Our favorite past time.
A dress and no socks on the first day of February!!

Motoring Along

I picked this blow up thing with balls after Christmas on sale thinking Lucy might like it. I got it out last Saturday night to give her something new to play with. Yep, she liked her new toy but who doesn't like a new toy.

She is so funny because her new favorite thing to do is play hide and seek with Jeff. She cracks me up because she will take off running and said "hiding" for Jeff to come find her. Then they will hide together and call for me to come find them. It is really cute!
We had some warmer weather this week so I tried to get her out as much as possible. Of course the first thing she ran to play with the pooper scooper for Lando!

Well, I have made it a month longer than I did with Lucy. I am 36 weeks and still feeling good. I went to the high risk pregnancy doctor this week and his plan is to induce me at 38-38 1/2 weeks. I will have to say that I am not complaining about having the baby in a 2 weeks. Jeff and I are hoping for February 2nd or 3rd since 2-2-12 would be a great birth date.

Christmas 2011

What a crazy Christmas this was. We went up to Durham Friday night to celebrate Christmas Eve with my family. Then we headed to Youngsville to celebrate Christmas Day with Jeff's family. That would have been great because we have done this the past 2 years but Lucy ended up sick. It started during the night Christmas Eve. Poor baby was running a fever and felt horrible. We did make it Jeff's family but didn't stay long since she felt so bad. We headed home and did Christmas morning the following day when Lucy got up(since she didn't know the difference this year). I love spending the holidays with our family but this will be the last one of us traveling. We want Lucy and soon-to-be-sibling to spend Christmas morning in their own home especially since she will really understand more next year. Hope you enjoy all these pictures from our crazy, sick Christmas.

"Christmas morning" in Wilmington
All Lucy wanted for Christmas was a Barbie Jeep and Santa delivered!
Trying out the jeep. She kept trying to make it go and was mad that the battery was out! Thank goodness Jeff left the battery out.
Christmas with the Barnwell's. Jeff's parents got her an easel which she LOVES!

Posing with Anna Grace and Paw-Paw
Poor baby felt horrible. We took her to the doctor when we got back home and it ended up she had an ear infection. This was her first one and I am praying her last. That was NO fun.
I absolutely love this picture of Jeff and Lucy. They are so stinkin cute
My wonderful parents
Since Jeff is so tall he gets a little cut off in most pictures. It's because everyone points the camera to Lucy and doesn't pay attention to him!
Our photographer didn't tell us the girls were taking up half of the guys heads! Ha...Oh well, at least we are all looking at the camera. And boy am I a big fatty. I feel like all I have done this pregnancy is eat and it really shows in my face. Oh well, I'll deal with that in a few weeks!
My beautiful sister, Kelly and wonderful brother, Brad
All of the grand kids!

Lucy and Lando waiting to open some presents. She had so much fun opening her gifts but it took her forever. She had to make sure each piece made it to the trash.
She got a Loving Family Dollhouse!
Minnie...our favorite!
Playing with the girls. Lucy helped Caroline clean up her game
Pretty Girl
They are so cute playing with Lucy. Of course Lando had to get in the action as well

Let Christmas Begin

We went to Durham on the 23rd to start our Christmas celebration. We drove to my parents and picked them up and headed to the mall for Lucy to see the singing bears and ride the train. I think her favorite thing ended up being the carousel. This was the first time I haven't ridden it with her and it was fun to watch her face each time she came around.

Riding the train

She got a stamp when she got off the carousel which was a big deal!
We found a second train while there and Daddy got to ride this one!

Cookies for Santa

I thought it would be fun to make Christmas cookies for Santa this year. Well, that turned out to be more work than I could have anticipated. Once the cookies cooled we frosted them and decorated with sprinkles. I think we ended up with more on the table than on our cookies. Or was it more in Lucy's mouth out of the shaker than on the cookies! She didn't care anything about eating the cookies, just the sprinkles!
